Our Mission
Our family loves dogs and they have been a part of our lives for generations. Growing up I always knew I wanted a Golden Retriever. They simply looked so happy, friendly and ready to be active or relaxed…whatever you needed, Goldens were up for it!
In 1986 our first Golden - Kimble - changed my life for the better and we have never looked back. I discovered a love of obedience dog training and the complete joy of having an exceptionally well-trained dog. Kimble also enjoyed her training sessions, they were dedicated times we spent together and she loved them. While we did some small, local “competitions”, really our training time was about constantly building our bond to one another. Over time others commented on what a great dog she was and I was encouraged to breed her… that was the beginning of Gorman Family Goldens!
Our goal is to provide other dog-loving families with outstanding companions and furry family members. Our dogs are part of our family, live in our house and travel with us across Canada each summer. Currently we are fortunate to have two lovely females - Ziggy and Peppa. Just like Kimble, we have continued our commitment to training our dogs, and while we have not (yet) competed with them, we have extended the enjoyment to add Rally and Agility training to round out the obedience training. Each type of training reinforces the other and has allowed us to adapt to each dog’s unique personality. And man they are unique!
So, in addition to providing families with access to loving and well cared for pets, we also believe in providing support as families welcome their new addition. Whether this is your first dog or your fifth - Gorman Family Goldens is here to provide you with support during the tranistion and with common puppy training challenges. We want to ensure your experience with a Golden pup is as positive as ours has been.
