Two Great Girls - love the outdoors!
Ziggy
Peppa
Currently, we have 2 lovely Golden Retriever females - Ziggy and Peppa.
Ziggy is 3 years old and LOVES to play! She is very sporty and is a fabulous retriever of balls. Thank goodness for our chuck-it, our arms would fall off if we had to throw the ball on our own that many times. Ziggy is very gentle and loving. She is happy to cuddle or lay at your feet while you read a book OR to go for a long hike, a swim, and yes chase a ball… over and over.
At about 4 months we began Ziggy’s formal obedience training. After she completed the initial training, we decided to try Agility with her. She simply is too playful to enjoy formal obedience training … but loved Agility right away. She is so eager to play that she took a bit longer to get really confident with her heeling and following all commands - but now she is really solid.
Peppa is 2 years old and loves her humans … and squirrels! She is a funny dog who is very alert and ready to go. Not a fan of retrieving balls (she leaves that for Ziggy) Peppa instead is crazy for jumping to catch snowballs and bubbles. Yup - that’s right, she will jump to a crazy height out of sheer joy if you toss a snowball in the air. In the summer, we discovered bubbles were a fun subsitute. Crazy circus dog!
Peppa began her formal obedience training around 6 months and, because she seriously loves food/treats, she did really well in traditional obedience training. She is incredibly focused and will do anything you ask… particularly if there is a snack at the end! To further her training while fitting her personality more, we decided to give Rally-O a try. The mixture of obedience skills with “obstacle course” type patterns was a great combination for her.
